A Vibe

Clean girl, mob wife, eclectic grandma, feral rat… so many vibes to portray, so little time.

I personally prefer to attach a vibe to an item instead of attaching myself to the vibe? Makes no sense? I understand, allow me to explain.

Vibe one: Sephora, red wine, Nike, cherries, black clothing, Apple Music, Netflix, Zara, Alo Yoga, Starbucks, chocolate chip cookies, vanilla scents, waffles, Aritzia, YSL, black cat, Whole Foods, Equinox, Pilates.

Vibe two: Ulta, white wine, Under Armor, strawberries, bright clothing, Spotify, Hulu, Forever 21, Lululemon, Dunkin’, sugar cookies, floral scents, pancakes, Reformation, Gucci, golden retriever, Trader Joes, Lifetime, Yoga.

In my mind, the items within those two vibe groups all give the same vibe(?). It doesn’t matter the cost, the quality, or anything other than what vibes the item gives. SURE you can then attach these vibes to a person, if you wanted to - I don’t think you should but let's do it for fun.

Immediately what comes to my mind is me and my sister. Serenity is blonde, drives a Jeep, loves to wear bright colors, scent is Daisy by Marc Jacobs - gives ‘strawberry girl’ aka vibe two. And then there is me dark hair, drives a Volvo, predominantly wears black, scent is Black Opium by YSL - gives ‘cherry girl vibes’ aka vibe one.

You may be thinking, “Baylee this is so stupid.” but I would encourage you to take a moment and try to clump your everyday products into these vibes categories and I think it would be very interesting to you. I will say, even though you may give off a vibe doesn’t mean you don’t use the items in the other vibe category…for example I am vibe one but I shop at Trader Joes and that is in vibe two. Which is why I stated that I attach an item to a vibe instead of to me as a person.

Now that you may be thinking a little bit about this and so I want to talk through the actual social implications of vibe trends.

It is annoying - end of discussion.

Find your own identity, do things you like, chill out on following trends, and live your life in the way you want to not because someone says it is cool right now. <3
